Learn to DJ and master the art of mixing tunes on professional industry standard Pioneer CDJ and Mixer equipment.

Gifted Workshops DJ mixing session for young people aged 11+ is an exciting, hands-on music workshop where participants learn the basics of DJing in a fun and creative environment.

Young people are introduced to professional DJ equipment such as CDJ decks, controllers, mixers, headphones, and speakers. The session begins with an explanation of how DJs select and blend tracks to create a seamless musical experience.

Participants learn key DJ skills including:

  • Beatmatching: synchronising the tempo of two songs
  • Mixing and blending: smoothly transitioning between tracks
  • Cueing: preparing the next song using headphones
  • Using EQs and effects: shaping the sound and adding creativity
  • Track selection: understanding what makes music work together
  • Performance skills: building confidence behind the decks

The workshop is highly interactive, allowing each young person to practise on the equipment and create their own mixes. Sessions encourage creativity, teamwork, confidence building, and self-expression through music.

By the end of the session, participants will have gained practical DJ skills, a better understanding of music production and performance, and the confidence to perform a short mix for their peers.

DJ workshops can be suitable for beginners and experienced young people alike, providing a positive, engaging activity that promotes learning, creativity, and social inclusion.
